VoltSense Heads to METSTRADE 2025 with Next-Gen Marine Monitoring Solution

VoltSense Heads to METSTRADE 2025 with Next-Gen Marine Monitoring Solution

VoltSense P2 is the result of two years of hands-on development, collaboration with boaters, and real-world testing in Nordic conditions. This new generation smart monitoring device builds on the original VoltSense concept, introducing powerful features in a compact, marine-grade package.

At its core, VoltSense P2 monitors what matters most to boat owners: battery health, location, and onboard movement. The device captures real-time data via internal sensors and communicates it through secure cellular or satellite IoT networks. Thanks to its internal battery, the system operates autonomously for up to three months—making it ideal for boats in winter storage, remote harbors, or moored unattended for extended periods.

A key technical innovation behind VoltSense P2 is its use of Nordic Semiconductor’s latest nRF91 series chipset, specifically designed for low-power LTE-M, NB-IoT, and satellite IoT (NTN) communications. This chipset enables VoltSense to offer reliable global connectivity while keeping power consumption to a minimum—critical for marine scenarios where power availability is limited and monitoring must continue uninterrupted for weeks or months. The nRF91 also provides integrated GNSS (GPS), reducing the need for external components and allowing for a more compact and cost-efficient design.

VoltSense P2 doesn’t stop at the basics. With the introduction of BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) connectivity, the platform now supports a growing ecosystem of wireless add-on devices. Owners can pair temperature, humidity, bilge water, or intrusion sensors to expand the monitoring capability of their system. This modular approach gives users the flexibility to tailor VoltSense to their specific vessel and use case.

Complementing the hardware is the user-friendly VoltSense mobile app, available for both iOS and Android. Through the app, boat owners can view telemetry data, receive alerts, and configure their devices from anywhere in the world. The app is built on top of ThingsBoard, offering a responsive, customizable dashboard that puts real-time information at the user’s fingertips.

Installation is straightforward, requiring no specialized tools or technical expertise. Once installed, the system continuously monitors key parameters and sends instant notifications if conditions exceed predefined thresholds—such as a voltage drop, unexpected movement, or sensor alarm. For peace of mind, users can also track their boat’s last known position on an interactive map.

VoltSense P2 is already in use by boat owners across Estonia, and customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. With the 2025–2026 winter storage season approaching, Purpletail is now expanding into the Finnish and Swedish markets—regions where long off-seasons, harsh weather, and remote marina locations make reliable monitoring solutions essential.

At METSTRADE 2025, Purpletail will officially launch VoltSense P2 to a global audience of marine professionals, retailers, and technology partners. The company aims to build international distribution channels and establish partnerships with marinas, insurance providers, and boat service centers.

For the growing number of boat owners who want to protect their investment, reduce maintenance costs, and stay connected to their vessel year-round, VoltSense P2 offers a robust, future-proof solution. Smart, simple, and affordable—VoltSense is ready to set sail globally.
