Frequently Asked Questions

πŸ”‹ VoltSense P2 Device

What is the VoltSense P2?
VoltSense P2 is a smart marine monitoring device that continuously tracks your boat's battery voltages, temperature, humidity, movement, and location. It ensures your boat remains in optimal condition year-round β€” both in the water and during storage.
How does VoltSense P2 connect to my boat?
The device includes a pre-wired 1.5 m cable harness. Simply connect:
  • BAT1 to the house battery's positive terminal
  • BAT2 to Engine 1 battery
  • BAT3 to Engine 2 battery (if applicable)
It can also connect to optional accessories like a bilge pump sensor or EYE Sensor (BTSMP1).
Does VoltSense P2 need a SIM card or Wi-Fi?
No setup is needed β€” P2 includes a built-in cellular module with global connectivity using LTE-M/NB-IoT. Data is securely sent to the VoltSense HUB automatically.
How long does the internal battery last?
Up to 3 months in autonomous mode without external power, depending on data transmission frequency and temperature.
Can I see live data from my boat?
Yes. You can access real-time and historical data anytime through the VoltSense Mobile App or HUB Portal.
What parameters does P2 monitor?
  • Battery voltages (up to 3 circuits)
  • Temperature and humidity
  • Movement and impact (G-sensor)
  • GPS location
  • Optional accessories (e.g., EYE Sensor, bilge pump)
How accurate are the measurements?
Voltage readings are accurate within Β±0.05 V; temperature within Β±1 Β°C; humidity within Β±3 %. GPS accuracy typically Β±5 m outdoors.
Can I install VoltSense P2 myself?
Yes. It's designed for DIY installation β€” only connect the wires to the battery positives and mount the device securely inside the boat. Use marine-grade screws or brackets.
Where should I mount the device?
Choose a dry, stable area with a clear view to the sky through fiberglass or plastic surfaces to ensure good GPS reception. Avoid placing it under metal covers.
Is VoltSense waterproof?
The P2 is IP65-rated β€” splash-proof and resistant to marine humidity. It should not be submerged.
Can multiple users access one boat's data?
Yes, the boat owner can share access rights via the VoltSense HUB, allowing service providers or marinas to view battery and sensor data.

πŸ–₯️ E-Paper Screen

What is the VoltSense E-Paper Display?
It's a low-power digital tag that shows your boat's status β€” battery voltage, temperature and humidity β€” directly at the dock or storage area.
How does it update the data?
The display connects wirelessly to the VoltSense P2 device and updates automatically whenever new data is transmitted to the HUB.
Does it require charging?
No. The E-Paper screen is powered by a coin-cell battery lasting up to 2 years, depending on update frequency.
Can I customize what the screen shows?
Yes. Through the VoltSense HUB you can choose which parameters appear (e.g., main battery voltage, last update time, temperature, etc.).
Is the display waterproof?
It's designed for outdoor use and resistant to humidity and splashes (IP54). Avoid full submersion or prolonged direct rain exposure.
Where can I place it?
Typically near the boat slip, on a dashboard, or near the storage location β€” anywhere with short wireless range to the P2 device.

πŸ‘οΈ EYE Sensor (BTSMP1)

What is the EYE Sensor?
The EYE Sensor (Teltonika BTSMP1) is a compact Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacon with four built-in sensors: temperature, humidity, movement (accelerometer), and magnet detection. It's pre-configured to work seamlessly with VoltSense P2 for extended environmental and asset monitoring.
How do I connect EYE Sensor to VoltSense P2?
Simply power up the sensor and open the VoltSense App β†’ Device Settings β†’ Add Sensor. The P2 will automatically detect nearby EYE Sensors via Bluetooth and link them. Each sensor comes pre-configured for easy pairing.
How many EYE Sensors can I use?
You can connect up to 5 EYE Sensors to one VoltSense P2 device β€” for example, one in the cabin, one in the engine room, one near the batteries, one on the door/hatch, and one in the refrigerator.
What is the range between P2 and EYE Sensor?
Up to 80 meters in open space. In typical boat environments with walls and equipment, expect 10-30 meters effective range depending on materials.
Do EYE Sensors require power?
They operate on a CR2450 lithium coin-cell battery (600 mAh, pre-installed). Battery life is 4+ years with default settings (5s interval) or up to 5+ years with 10s interval. The battery is non-replaceable.
What data is shown in the app?
Each connected EYE Sensor displays temperature (-20Β°C to +60Β°C), humidity (0-100%), movement/accelerometer events (pitch, roll, impact detection), and magnet detection status (useful for door/hatch open/close alerts).
What are common use cases for EYE Sensors?
  • Cold chain monitoring: Track refrigerator/freezer temperatures
  • Door/hatch alerts: Use magnet sensor to detect when doors, hatches, or compartments are opened
  • Movement detection: Security alerts for unauthorized movement or theft
  • Environmental monitoring: Multiple cabin zones, engine room humidity
  • Asset tracking: Monitor trailers, containers, or equipment
Is the EYE Sensor waterproof?
Yes, the EYE Sensor has IP67 water resistance rating and can withstand dust, splashes, and temporary submersion. It operates in -20Β°C to +60Β°C and handles 0-100% non-condensing humidity.
