VoltSense will once again exhibit at METSTRADE, the world's leading trade exhibition for marine equipment, materials, systems and technology. METSTRADE 2026 will take place from 17–19 November 2026 at RAI Amsterdam.
As in previous years, you will find VoltSense at the Estonian Pavilion in Hall 3, stand 03.342.
This year, we will present an enhanced version of the VoltSense monitoring device, major updates to the VoltSense HUB platform and a completely new intelligent monitoring module called AI Guard.
Enhanced VoltSense hardware — now supporting measurements up to 90 V
The latest version of the VoltSense device can measure voltages of up to 90 V.
This expands the system beyond conventional 12 V and 24 V onboard electrical systems, making it suitable for monitoring higher-voltage battery banks, including those used with electric propulsion systems.
Inside the latest VoltSense hardware revision — cellular, Bluetooth LE and GNSS on a single low-power board
The device continues to use the energy-efficient Nordic Semiconductor nRF9151 as its main communication and control module. The nRF9151 provides cellular connectivity, allowing VoltSense to operate independently without relying on the boat's Wi-Fi network.
The new hardware version also introduces an nRF54-series Bluetooth Low Energy chip for connecting wireless sensors. This provides a more capable and energy-efficient foundation for expanding the range of BLE sensors installed onboard.
Wireless sensors can be used to monitor parameters such as:
- temperature and humidity;
- movement and vibration;
- doors, hatches and storage compartments;
- pitch and roll;
- other important onboard environmental and security conditions.
Together with direct voltage monitoring, these sensors provide a broader picture of the boat's condition, even when nobody is onboard.
Major updates to VoltSense HUB
The professional VoltSense HUB platform has also received several important updates.
VoltSense HUB is designed for marinas, boat service companies, dealers, fleet operators and other professional users responsible for monitoring and maintaining multiple boats.
The platform brings all connected boats into one centralised view and provides access to their latest voltage, temperature and sensor information. Users can also manage alerts, service tasks, notes, activity logs and customer reports.
The updated HUB makes it easier to identify:
- which boats require attention;
- where unusual changes have occurred;
- which systems should be checked;
- which maintenance activities should be prioritised.
This enables service providers to move from reactive maintenance towards a more proactive and data-driven service model.
Introducing AI Guard
At METSTRADE 2026, we will introduce a completely new VoltSense HUB module called AI Guard.
AI Guard in VoltSense HUB — each boat receives a plain-language condition assessment based on its own history
Traditional monitoring systems usually generate an alarm only after a predefined threshold has been crossed. AI Guard goes further by analysing the long-term behaviour of each individual boat and learning what is normal for its electrical system and operating conditions.
Instead of looking only at a single voltage reading, AI Guard evaluates patterns and changes over time.
Its analysis can include:
- battery-bank voltages and voltage trends;
- charging and discharging cycles;
- charging behaviour and charger operating patterns;
- voltage recovery after electrical loads;
- battery behaviour during storage;
- temperature and environmental data;
- movement, vibration and acceleration data;
- the boat's detected operating mode;
- data continuity and communication quality.
Automatic detection of the boat's operating mode
Battery and electrical-system behaviour must always be interpreted in the correct context.
A boat that is actively being used behaves differently from one that is floating at the marina or stored ashore for the winter. AI Guard can automatically classify the boat's current operating mode using movement, acceleration and other telemetry data.
Typical operating modes may include:
- active use;
- afloat and stationary;
- long-term storage.
The operating mode can also be selected manually when necessary.
By understanding the context, AI Guard can reduce unnecessary alerts and distinguish normal operational changes from developments that may require attention.
What can AI Guard detect?
AI Guard is designed to identify developing issues before they become failures.
It can highlight situations such as:
- battery voltage decreasing faster than usual;
- a battery not recovering as expected after a load;
- unusual or irregular charging cycles;
- a battery repeatedly failing to reach its normal charged state;
- charging behaviour changing over time;
- a charger remaining in a charging stage for an unusually long period;
- shore power or charging being interrupted;
- one battery bank starting to behave differently from the others;
- previously stable energy consumption increasing without an obvious reason;
- a boat or monitoring device unexpectedly stopping data transmission;
- several small changes combining into a pattern that indicates a need for inspection.
The system compares current observations with the boat's own historical behaviour. This means that the analysis is adapted to the individual vessel instead of relying only on generic alarm limits.
Clear assessments and practical recommendations
AI Guard converts technical telemetry into a clear condition assessment.
Boat owners receive an understandable summary of the situation, including an indication of whether everything appears normal or whether a particular area should be checked.
Professional users can access a more detailed analysis through VoltSense HUB. This helps service companies and marinas to:
- prioritise boats according to their need for attention;
- plan preventive maintenance;
- investigate a potential issue before visiting the boat;
- reduce unexpected battery and electrical-system failures;
- document inspections and completed work;
- offer continuous remote-monitoring services to their customers.
AI Guard is not intended to replace a qualified marine technician. Its purpose is to provide earlier and more precise information about when a boat should be checked and what should be inspected.
